Velvet Cake With Butter Cream Frosting Recipe

Ingredients

For Cake:-
1. Sieved all purpose flour (2 1/2c)
2. distilled white vinegar (1tbsp)
3. baking soda (1 1/2tsp)
4. buttermilk (1c)
5. vanilla extract (1 tsp)
6. salt (1 tsp)
7. red food coloring (4 tbsp)
8. cocoa (2 tbsp)
9. eggs (2)
10. white sugar (1 ½ cup)
11. shortening (1/2 cup)
12. butter (1 cup)
13. milk (1 cup)
14. all purpose flour (5 tbsp)

For Frosting:-
1. Butter flavored extract (1/4 tsp)
2. vanilla extract (1 tsp)
3. confectioner’s sugar (2 cups)
4. shortening (1/2 cup)
5. unsalted butter (1 cup)
6. all purpose flour (4 tbsp)
7. heavy whipping cream (1/2 cup)

Method of preparation:-
1. First heat the oven to 350 degrees F or 175 degrees C. Take a bowl, mix 1 ½ cup of sugar and shortening in it and then add eggs in it. Beat it well.

2. Mix cocoa and red food coloring to make the paste of it. Then add this paste into the creamed mixture. Mix 1 teaspoon of vanilla, buttermilk and salt. Alternating between the two, add the flour with the milk mixture to the creamed mixture.

3. Mix vinegar and soda and then pour this mixture into the cake. Now pour the mixture into the greased pans. Place the pans in oven and bake them for about 30 minutes.

4. Take out the pans from oven and keep them to cool and then remove the cakes from the pan very carefully and keep them to cool completely.

5. To prepare frosting, take a small bowl, mix heavy cream and flour in it. Place the bowl in microwave to heat the mixture for about 45 seconds. Then take out the bowl from oven and keep it to cool.

6. Take a mixing bowl, mix shortening, butter, vanilla extract, confectioner sugar and butter extract in it. Beat this mixture on low speed with electric mixer.

7. Then beat it on medium speed for about 6 to 8 minutes then add heavy cream mixture and beat it for about 10 minutes until it becomes fluffy. Now frost the cooled cake with this frosting and then serve it.
