German Chocolate Cake Recipe

This cake is a typical German dish which the German people love to eat and serve to guests.

Ingredients

Cake
1. German’s Sweet Chocolate (4 ounces)
2. Flour (2 cups)
3. Buttermilk (1 cup)
4. Baking soda (1 teaspoon)
5. Butter (1 cup)
6. Egg whites (4)
7. Egg yolks (4)
8. Vanilla (1 teaspoon)
9. Salt (1/4 teaspoon)
10. Sugar (2 cups)
11. Water (1/2 cup)

Coconut Pecan Frosting
1. Butter (3/4 cup)
2. Chopped pecans (1 1/2 cups)
3. Evaporated milk (1 1/12 ounce can)
4. Egg yolks slightly beaten (4)
5. Flaked coconut (2 2/3 cups)
6. Vanilla (1½ teaspoons)
7. Sugar (1½ cups)

Method Of Preparation:-

Cake
1. Firstly preheat your oven to 350 F and line up the bottoms of 2-3, as per your wish, 9 inch round cake pans with wax paper. Melt the chocolate in boiling water and set aside. Mix flour, salt and baking soda and set aside.

2. Beat butter and sugar in electric beater till fluffy and light. Beat them on medium speed. Add egg yolks one after the other with beating and then add chocolate and vanilla and beat it. Now add flour with buttermilk and beat until smooth. Beat egg whites until stiff and stir them into the mixture.

3. Pour them into the pans and bake for 30 minutes. Cool for 15 minutes and remove from pans and remove wax paper and let it cool properly. Now spread frosting in between and top of the cake.

Coconut Pecan Frosting:-
1. For frosting mix sugar, butter, milk, egg yolks and vanilla in pan and cook on medium heat with continuous stirring for about 12 minutes or until thickened and golden brown.

2. Remove from heat and stir coconut and pecans. Cool down to room temperature.
