German Dessert Dumplings Recipe

Ingredients

For Yeast Dough:-
1. Grated peel of lemon (1/2)
2. sugar (60 g)
3. butter (80 g)
4. eggs (2)
5. lukewarm milk (1/4 – 1/8 l)
6. sugar (a pinch)
7. fresh yeast (1/2 about 20g)
8. wheat flour (500g)
9. salt (a pinch)

For Baking:-
1. Water or half milk, half water (1/4 l)
2. sugar (2 tbsp)
3. butter (40g)
4. salt (a pinch)

Method of preparation:-
1. Take a bowl, put flour in it and make a well in the center. Take another bowl, mix some milk, sugar and crumbled yeast in it and then pour it into the well of flour.

2. Keep the yeast mixture to rise and then mix the other ingredients in it. Knead the mixture until it becomes smooth. Keep it rise again and then roll it and make about 20 rolls and again keep them to rise.

3. Take a casserole dish, melt butter in it. Add sugar, salt and 2cm high liquid in it. Keep the liquid to boil and add little rounds in it. Cover the casserole properly. Now keep it to simmer for about 20 minutes over medium heat.

4. When the dumplings stop sizzling then cook it for 10 minutes to make crust. Now serve the dumplings with vanilla sauce or fruit compote.
