Gulab Jamun Recipe

gulab-jamunThis is very easy and tasty Indian dish which can be served hot, cold or at room temperature.

Ingredients:

Gulab Jamuns:-
Whole milk just enough to make the dough, Carnation Milk Powder (1 cup), All purpose flour (1/2 cup), Butter –melted (2 tablespoons), Baking soda (1/2 tsp), Oil for frying

Sugar Syrup
Sugar (2 cups), Water (1 cup), Kesar, Cardamom (4 -5)

Method Of Preparation:-

Gulab Jamuns:-
Add milk powder, butter, baking powder and whole milk to make a hard dough. Make small balls from the dough around 20 in no. and place them on the plate. Heat the oil and fry the balls on simmer. Fry them till brown in color and shake the pan so that they are cooked from all sides. After only about 5 minutes balls will rise up. Now brown them from all sides. Make sure that temp is neither too high nor too low otherwise they will break down. And the balls shud be cooked on medium heat so that they are cooked from inside as well.

Sugar Syrup
To make syrup add sugar and water in a pan and 4-5 cardamoms, pinch of kesar, and cook it on medium heat for 10 minutes until the sugar is dissolved. Do not overheat otherwise sugar will caramelize. Make sure that you make the syrup before the balls n keep it warm. As the balls are made same time dip them into the syrup and leave for overnight for best results.
Now gulab jamuns are ready to serve.
